La Caleta / Adeje Golf. One of the best locations in the world to live.
In December 2018 we wrote an article about the expanding area of La Caleta, and the debate was regarding whether it was spoiling the quaint fishing seaside village or if it was in the name of progress and improving the area. The Hotel Corales Suites was built and imposes itself like a giant of hotels overlooking this once picturesque sleep coastal village.
Heading slightly up the hill in the direction of Adeje Golf and you have the area of Barranco Del Ingles. This area has surpassed even the most celebrious up market areas in Tenerife and the whole of the Canary Islands. Houses in this area used to be built large and maybe 250m2 or 300m2 but now its commonplace to see the properties in this part of Tenerife to be around 600m2 on plots of 2,500m2 and above. Here is an example of a large property in the main street of Barranco del Ingles which is in the lower Adeje Golf / higher La Caleta area.

The area of Costa Adeje and especially Adeje Golf and La Caleta attracts affluent people from all over the world and many famous people are attracted here. The singer songwriter and popular music artist Ed Sheeran owns a property in La Caleta.
Let’s look at the reasons why? Just 4 to 6 hours from most popular parts of Europe where the climate is one of, if not THE best in the world. Sophisticated restaurants and shops in the area and there is a great infra structure. There is an abundance of things to do, from Whale and Dolphin watching to skydiving and mountain walks. Visiting vineyards and the famous El Teide Volcano. All these things just 15 to 40 minutes away from this superb area of La Caleta and Adeje Golf.
House prices in Adeje Golf and La Caleta have increased significantly in the last 10 years, and some have said that they are overpriced. But if you consider other popular locations with high price tags, it soon becomes clear that this area has improved in leaps and bounds and is now comparable to the best areas in the world.
Lets look at some great places to live with the reputation for being the most desirable.
Malibu Beach. Very smart address and superb climate. Over 10 to 12 hours flight time from the UK and average property prices of $3.850,000 dollars. It does not make it easy to pop back home to visit family and catch up. The quick flight home is a major attraction to people buying in Tenerife.
In fact, we can say the same about most of the USA. The favourite would have to be Florida which is the closest. There are some superb locations, but the travel time is just simply too much.
Let’s come nearer home.
Marbella / Golden Mile. We found 132 properties for sale ranging from €2.000,000 to €12,000.000 and the average being €6,000.000 but the bad news is the climate. It is seasonal with only 320 days of sunshine and 45 days of rain with a winter temperature at an average of 18 degrees. They do get snow in the Costa del Sol, albeit seldom! Compare this to Tenerife and there is a significant difference which is well known.
We could go on with this theme throughout Europe and especially The French Riviera. There are many superb cities and areas such as Nice, Monte Carlo or St-Tropez. Average property prices here are €11,000 per M2 so for a Villa of 600m2 as our Tenerife Property example in Adeje Gold / La Caleta, this would cost you €6,600.000 which is €450,000 more expensive than our example.
Its true, that years ago, Tenerife did have a reputation which was like that of Benidorm as a lively holiday resort in the sunshine. Things change and there has been an awful lot of work put in by the government. The planning and infrastructure have changed, and the addition of many 5-star deluxe hotels being constructed here.
Tenerife is simply up there for many reasons as one of the best places to live in the World!
